About

LVP is a ROCK Linux based Live-System designed to play Video-files on a diskless machine.

I (blindCoder) started this project in October 2003 to create a solution for storing my Videos on a DVD and play them (almost) anywhere without having to modify the machine I'm playing it on.

I experienced a lot of problems with machines which are missing video-codecs so I decided for a Live-System which has everything needed to play back those files.

At that time I already was involved in the ROCK Linux for some time so the decision to use it came naturally.

In October 2003 ROCK Linux 2.0 was already in some kind of feature-freeze so I decided against submitting it there immediately but to maintain it seperately until the time the feature-freeze is over.

When ROCK Linux 2.1 was opened I submitted LVP and since then it's a part of the ROCK Linux DBK.
